It’s The 1920s. The Cat’s Meow is your town’s worst kept secret. Gangsters, Politicians, Old Money, Movie Stars, and characters of international intrigue rub elbows, consume bootlegged alcohol. Jelly Roll Donut leads the band. Jo Bakery sings. Babyface Benny enforces mobland law. Zelda Fitzgerald oversees her husband’s hotspot. And when THE BOSS od found murdered, everyone is suspect and deputized detective charged with solving the murder.

I have 30+ years of professional experience as an actor. But I grew up playing jazz piano and trumpet. If you see our Improv Comedy Show off-Broadway or touring, instead usually sit at the piano and rock out on the blues. Paired with love of THE GODFATHER and old New York, these characters resonate with me like no other. If you are a fan of 1920s music, movies, theater and history, you will recognize historical references in every character.

WHAT IS A CLUE PARTY?

In short, a clue party is any mystery event where the guests have to collect clues to solve the crime.

THE CAT’S MEOW PARTY KIT & DETECTIVE

The Cat’s Meow “script” has many or all guests at your party are armed with a character bio and three clues. For smaller events, everyone plays a character. For larger events, I recommend 10-20 play named characters. Either way, every guest plays deputized detective.

Our detective arrives 30-60 minutes before go time. Each “script” is disguised as an invitation for the characters your guests will play. When the open, the character bio is written in first person. We encourage improvisation, but anyone not comfortable playing out fo the box can literally read off the paper.

We also bring answer sheets, with our new patent pending (not really) murder board on the back, pens and simple prizes.

SPEED DATING FOR SUSPECTS – Game Play

After the detective announces the murder, everyone mingles with everyone else, collecting story and clues from each character. For the smaller parties, I call this speed dating for suspects. Everyone interogates each other, introducing themselves and taking turns sharing clues like gossip.

These clues lead to a single suspect. The sow ends with the detective collecting and reading somw wrong answers before announcing the BIG REVEAL!

We award prizes to those that solve the crime. OR if the Murderer gets away with it, THEY get a prize. We also offer prizes for best actor and costume, all voted on by your guests.

These prizes are usually kitchy gag gifts from FIVE BELOW or similar. However, many corporate events will supply us with Starbucks Gift Cards or similar. Every so often a Peoject Manager will get a case of wine, and each winner gets a bottle. The most extreme, at a very high end fundraiser, a $10,000 donation was made in the name of the winning team members.
