Press & Testimonials

“Walt Frasier, as the all-purpose colonial villian, reached up to counter-tenor range with appropriate craven boorishness.”

NEW YORK TIMES review by Jon Pareles of Fred Ho’s “WARRIOR SISTERS” 2001

“Normally you feel sorry for an understudy who’s forced to spell an irreplaceable star, or who was obviously shoved into a difficult role with too little rehearsal. But Walt Frasier, who stepped into a secondary role at the performance I attended of Gutter Star: The Paperback Musical, gave the best-sung and most assured performance to be found in the show…. For his bravura turn as Darla’s friend-and-protector studio head, Frasier deserves credit: His supple baritone and confident manner gave the show an anchoring dramatic weight it wasn’t getting from any of its other elements the night I saw it. Frasier proved that it’s possible for a polished and prepared performer to look like brightly burnished gold even in surroundings that are, at best, 100 percent lead.”

Talkin’ Broadway Theatre Review by Matthew Murray of Gutter Star: The Paperback Musical NY Fringe

Walt Frasier and his team at Eight Improv have always provided our groups with nothing short of an incredible experience in their improv workshops! The teacher’s energy, creativity, and clear guidance made every session not only fun but also incredibly insightful for our visiting students. Walt is a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process and is a tremendous asset to our roster of teachers in New York City!

With consideration of the obvious, Walt and his team are actually doing what they are teaching. This makes a difference to many groups. It is important that theater groups work with professionals. What is not obvious is that the entire experience benefits the group. They are able to take class in an actual club where the professionals perform. That alone adds an immersion quality not available by hiring just an improve teacher to come to a studio somewhere. Walt and his team make sure that anyone that wants to be involved is able to get up and do the work. Its been a favorite experience for many of my groups.

Thank you for facilitating the Leadership Improve sessions at AstraZeneca. I received some good feedback from a crowd that can be a little tough and very professional. I was happy to see most getting into it and I believe it ‘broke the ice’ before our team conversations in the afternoon.

As a former Theatre Teacher, and now a tour operator, I have been taking groups to Walt (Frasier, Artistic Director) for years. His workshops and shows are amazing. The kids learn a lot, in the workshops, have a great time participating in the show and his performances and workshops are always age appropriate. I love that the kids always brag to their friends that they perform on Broadway, because of the opportunity to be in the show with him and his performers.I highly recommend him and his crew.

Hi Sam and Walt! I wanted to thank you so much for accommodating our group this week and facilitating the improv workshop. I received so many compliments about the event from the leadership team – they really enjoyed the exercise and being pushed out of their comfort zone. Sam was a great facilitator, as mentioned by many of the leaders as well. I will certainly be recommending your workshop if anyone from our company is hosting a team event in New York.

I’ve had Walt and his team come in and work with my students for over five years now. We have both visited the NYC space and held sessions and assemblies in our building. Year after year, the students love exploring improv, and they really enjoy the culminating shows, following the individual class sessions. This program is not only affordable, it’s beneficial for all students. It helps them come out of their shells and also gives them an opportunity to explore skills out of their rigorous class schedules. Looking forward to having them back in the 2023-2024 school year!

I wanted to thank you and your troop for the best birthday party my kids have ever had (and they’ve had some good ones). The group was so happy and entertained and I’ve gotten so many compliments about the party. You are all so talented and honestly I feel so grateful that you all put your time and hearts into a show for a group of 10 year olds. Thank you and everyone else who made this event so spectacular.

OMG! Still Lmao! Our May 10th staff retreat at the St. Ignatius Retreat House was great. The PDHP staff really enjoyed the troupe. Just what we needed to de-stress from the school year. The 4 young men you sent are Excellent! THANKS! Rose & Jill

“Here’s my report: OMG it was awesome! Truly one of the best activities I’ve ever seen take place here at Summit! We gave them a very large group of kids to work with, and they handled them wonderfully. The way that they related to the kids was terrific, and the activities they led worked on so many pragmatic language skills in SUCH an effective way, including increasing the kids’ awareness of their bodies in space, body proximity, eye contact, voice, and generally how others perceive them from their non-verbal cues. They also did word association and one-word stories that involved verbal expression and required kids to follow a story line. Almost all of the kids looked like they were having a fantastic time, and it was an activity where the shy kids could get to interact with others in a very structured (hence comfortable) way. At the end I spoke to the three members of the improv group and raved about how great they were and told them the specific ways that the activities helped our students. They asked me a number of questions, such as regarding how to handle various students’ behaviors, and we talked about upcoming activities.”

  • Regarding shows, workshops and residencies, Lisa Palotti (Speech Teacher) to John Renner (Principal)

“You did an excellent job of keeping everyone engaged and getting such a large number to participate. Everyone I heard from was enthusiastic about your program. It’s not easy to keep that age range thoroughly entertained and you did that! Please thank the other performers for their good work!”

  • Darien CT School Tour Gifted & Talented program

“Thank you for your incredible performance tonight. The kids LOVED it and all the parents thought it was very funny, engaging imaginative and energetic!! You are very adept at keeping the pace perfect and the kids completely immersed. That’s major talent! Your team was also wonderful. Can’t thank you enough for helping to create a very memorable evening for the kids (5th Grade Party). Best of luck in all your endeavors here in Westport and everywhere!”
